Pony Espresso in Wickenburg has new British Owners

In what is probably the strangest series of events I have ever read, it appears that Pony Espresso has new owners. The new owners, a couple from England, discovered Pony Espresso on a trip to Arizona while searching for a business to purchase. Here are some photos of Pony I took in 2006.

The Pony Espresso has been a favorite hangout in Wickenburg since Emily Bedoian opened the shop in 1993 with the help of her parents Victor and Kristy Bedoian. Now, after 15 years, the shop is under new ownership.
Peter and Jane Kibble, with their daughter Rebecca (14), are fresh from Hayling Island, England, and are finalizing paperwork this week, making them the new owners of the “Pony,” a shop they fell in love with the first time they walked through the doors of the unique coffee house.

Question; does the Pony Expresso have things like live music in Friday nights, etc?

They have live music occasionally, but it’s not along a set schedule.
And their website is fairly out-of-date, so I wouldn’t trust it for much other than contact info.
It’ll be sad to see the shop out of Emily’s excellent ownership, and I wish the new owners the best of luck in their endeavor!

It is always good to see a family change business ,wherever they do they will do fine. I meet Emily and she is hard worker. This industry is going to miss her. Thank you for supporting the local roaster.

Hi. It’s wierd letting go of my “baby” but Im ready for some new adventures in life and I wish the new owners lots of luck and I hope they run it well and keep the same vibe going in the shop. The Pony Espresso myspace page is more current and they send out post about live music and such.

Congratulations on the sale Emily! I have a few question if you don’t mind…
1. How long did it take to sell the business, did you hire a broker? How was that experience?
2. Overall, would you recommend the coffee business to someone else as a business venture?

Hi Chris,
1) It took 1 year for my business to sell. I hired a real estate agent to sell my business. The experience was OK communication was tough as the buyers were from England.
2) I’ve had a great run and I would recommend the coffee business as a great business venture but also would note we did alot of food as well and the restaurant business is alot of hard work so be ready to dive in with all you got!
