I was at the Jamaican Blue last night and heard they are closing for good on May 1st 2008.

I am looking for a place I can go to late nights - 11PM or later in the east valley/south Scottsdale area.

Wanted to check out Contraband but cannot find an address. On Ash in Tempe south of University.

I phoned Jamaican Blue and the phone number was disconnected.

Wow. I have not been there in years, but I spent many, many nights there when I was a youngin’. It’s got to be one of the oldest coffee shops in the Valley. I think it opened around 1993 or so.

Why? How come? Who’s got an explanation? I don’t get it… Are we going to be witnesses of the extinction of ALL the best independent coffee houses in town? Come on PEOPLE! Let’s support LOCAL non-chain Coffee Houses!
I try to vary my visits between INZA, Lux, Next, Jamaican, MamaJava and The Village; depending on the area where I’m at…
I will hate to see those places close! Come on!!

I have put my two cents…
And YES! I am frustrated! Sorry!

If you’re looking for a better alternative out there try the Village Coffee Roastery on Hayden and Via De Ventura.
