Great first podcast! I recenlty relocated here from Milwaukee, WI. I was terrifically spoiled by the coffee scene there (thanks to Alterra Coffee Roasters). It’s great to see you helping the coffee scene here in AZ take off. I’m extremely impressed with your website and both podcasts. If you need help with anything, shoot me a line. I have plans and dreams of my own to make my mark in the world of coffee. So once again, my hats off to you.

I’ve been sampling Rocket Coffee Roasters’ Best of Panama the last several days and I’ve got to say, this is good-clean- coffee! Yummy, brisk, balanced…I think the pedigree of this level of genetically cultivated coffee bean is largely responsible. However, I couldn’t overestimate the finesse of the hands-on care the roaster took in prepairing such a quality product. I live in Stowe, Vermont. Most people, in these parts, drink Green Mountain Coffee Roasters fine coffee. I had for 22 years. When a friend of mine suggested I sample fresh-roasted coffee from one of the micro-roasters, I thouhgt I would be less than impressed. You see, I prefer Imported European beer to micro-brewed beer. Something about the Old-World traditions? Yeah. But to my amazment, fresh-roasted coffee was ALIVE! When you can look at the bag of beans and see how new-born they are, it’s something else.
I enjoyed your First-ever-podcast. You are definately on the right track. Keep talking to the Indepenant roasters. These guys are on the frontier of something kind!

Sorry I rattled-on so much. I just get a warm feeling inside when I enjoy a treat from MOther Nature. Keep up the good work. Don’t interview Starbucks. (Sixty Minutes already did that.) It’s the peoplr that put good coffe into the hands of their Brothers and Sisters. May Jah-va bless us all in warmth and Enlightenment!

Sorry if my comment appeared more critical than positive. It wasn’t intended to be that way. I know it’s the first podcast, and I was mostly just sort of kidding around. Hoping the “we’ll talk about Starbucks” is a nudge back in the same spirit.

The dark vs. light roast article should be ready sometime this week.. I’ll have it to you(chris) before the end of next week.

Richard, I’m glad you are happy with what I do! The other coffee companies you mentioned still serve a purpose, employ good people and although they may be not what you look for, they may just be somebody else’s cup of tea.

I’ve never been to Seattle Espresso but some people have to like “stale” coffee or you wouldn’t have a job. If your boss see’s your reply, you may be looking soon anyway.

Not getting down on you, hard to do that when you like Rocket Coffee Roasters, but easy does it, it’s only coffee!

nice podcast you guys - it’s obvious who is the premier roaster in the valley! believe me, i’ve tried a bunch and the only roaster that comes close to Rocket is Cave Creek. even then, they just are not as consistently good. there are a bunch of really bad ones here too - like Coffee Reserve - Arizona Coffee Roasters, Cortez Coffee, Lindsay’s - well the list goes on. and believe me, i’ve spent my hard earned dough on a bunch of ‘em. it’s refreshing to have someone local doing the right thing.

oh, and yes, i do work for a coffee company, and we don’t use Rocket Coffee ‘cuz we are a chain and the coffee comes already stale from Seattle. Seattle Espresso if ya’ wanna know!

Chris! I loved your first podcast - really enjoyed hearing about the coffee auction, Larry’s easy to listen to and very informative - It sounds like you had a very interesting visit!

Jason - in Chris’s defense (and speaking from experience) an audio interview is not an easy thing to pull off at first. It’s difficult enough to interact with the interviewee while at the same time browsing your notes and questions. With time though, Chris will be the Podcast master!

This show needs more fire! The info is good, but the presentation sounds like an interview on Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood. Great stuff for the intending audience, but the not the most thrilling of experiences. I think next time, the topic should be about some sort of controversy. Get some passion behind the voice. That, or just have 3 or 4 double shots first. Either or.

Enjoyed it immensely. It makes me very happy to see AZCoffee on an upward climb. Keep it up!
