Here’s a photo of some regular coffee beans on the left and then some decaffeinated on the right. Both are unroasted. I took this photo the other day during a visit at Rocket Coffee Roasters. Good times.
Upcoming: First ever Arizona Coffee podcast and photos.

Interesting sign I saw in Brasil. I’m sorry I don’t remember the name of the place, but the name didn’t mean anything to me.

Hi folks, I have one interview lined up for this week (the 5 minute variety) and I would like to do a second in the Phoenix area this week if possible. Get in touch if you’re interested (short and sweet and I’ll come to you).
A note to our coffee friends in Tucson. I’m planning a […]
Visited Cafe Zentro today
June 22, 2006Posted by Chris Tingom
I stopped in at Cafe Zentro Coffee House (reference) this morning on my way back from a meeting. I had never been inside since they close in the early afternoon.
I had a doppio macchiato which I’ve grown to love. Although it seems that every time I order one lately, the barista will look at me […]

June 20, 2006Posted by Jason Haeger
I am extremely pleased to be able to introduce this wonderful coffee terminology guide written by Jason Haeger, a coffee professional working to bring quality coffee to Lubbock, Texas. A transplant from AZ, he is in a unique position to draw a comparison between the similarities of the growing coffee scene between TX and AZ.

Tubac, AZ with a population of about 1,500 people is set to open a new shopping center. The new center will feature a coffee shop. I’m unsure about the specifics, however it is named Powell Street Bakery and Coffee Shop. It will be sharing space with 3 other companies (6,000 sq feet) and isn’t […]
Night Owls: Where do you go for late night coffee in Arizona?
June 15, 2006Posted by Chris Tingom
Aaron Kelly asks: Other than Counter-Culture Cafe, are there any other 24 hour coffee shops in the Phoenix/Scottsdale/Tempe area? How about any that are open very late on the weekend (1am)?
Good question, I can think of Coffee Plantation on Camelback (they’re usually open until midnight, and maybe later on weekends), and The Willow House […]
Bunna Coffee opening this weekend?
June 14, 2006Posted by Chris Tingom
I spoke with the owner of Bunna Coffee this week and I understand they have plans to open up this weekend (pending inspections planned for this week).
Bunna Coffee is in Tempe on Dunlap and Rural Rd. It looks pretty neat. I snapped the photo below and scanned the info card they had outside.
Question for Owners: Morning, Day, or Night?
June 13, 2006Posted by Chris Tingom
I have a question for the coffee shop owners. Do you see more customers in the morning, in the day, or at night? Would a coffee shop that’s only open from 5 pm until late at night be a good idea?
Vintage Arizona Coffeehouse Photos
June 12, 2006Posted by Chris Tingom
I found some really neat photos from Arizona dating back well into the 1800s up until today. On that site I discovered a few coffee shops! Now I’m curious about coffee shops of days gone by and who it was that started the first coffee shop in Arizona. We will likely never know. The photos […]
A second Coffee Rush opens in Gilbert, coffee is awesome
June 12, 2006Posted by Chris Tingom
I’m sitting at the new Coffee Rush which opened recently. It’s on the southeast corner of Gilbert & Baseline, in Gilbert. I drove past it and had to stop and see what it was all about. I was confused at first because I am more familiar with the Coffee Rush on Ray & Dobson (the […]

Coffee Works is now closed
June 11, 2006Posted by Chris Tingom
I went over to Coffee Works today and discovered that they have recently closed. They were one of Chandler’s better coffee houses (from what I hear) and it’s ashame. The contact page on their web site confirms this.
The door was unlocked and nobody was there. I noticed all of the chairs were stacked up and […]
Gilbert / Chandler area coffee shops
June 10, 2006Posted by Chris Tingom
I’m out in the Gilbert / Chandler area today trying out some new coffee shops (three so far, and I might do a fourth). It’s been ages since I have been out this way and I’m glad I came. I’ve found a few doozies and some definite winners. I’ll post my thoughts starting Monday.
My reason […]
Prescott Coffee Roasters
June 10, 2006Posted by Chris Tingom
I can’t believe that I’ve never heard of Prescott Coffee Roasters. Just got this email from Anne: “It’s only the most popular joint in town. They roast their own beans, too, and have lots of yummy baked goods.”
Thanks Anne!
